The final round of the 2009 DAFL home and away season had promised so much, with two of the matches being pseudo-finals and the other to celebrate the first DAFL player to reach 200 games (Helsingborg's Andreas Svensson). Unfortunately, almost the entire round fizzled out.

First, the Saints forfeited, leaving Svensson stranded on 199 and North Copenhagen's Erik Krolmark leading the goalkicking but threatened by any of three players from the Farum v Port Malmö game who were very likely to overtake him (and one did).

Not only that, the Maulers' side was devastated by a Gaelic Football event in Sweden which robbed them of their significant Irish contingent and left them open to the rampant Cats. This match was a warm-up for the Second Semi Final next week with the winning side claiming the right to host it - an important consideration these days. Farum picked this day to also kick straight which accentuated the scoreboard difference and thus the Cats have rocketed to outright flag favoritism.

The other game between fourth and fifth was a play-off for the last place in the finals in theory only. Jutland have struggled of late particularly on the road and they were no match for the Crocs, particular with Tom Portet getting a bag of 13 goals - the most in a game in DAFL since round 5, 2006.

So the semi-finals will be the same two clashes as last year but reversed. The Cudas and Crocs will meet in the First Semi while the Cats and Maulers will do battle again in the Second Semi Final.

After the games, the league's end-of-season awards were announced with the winners being as follows:

Sitch Medal : Steven Wood (North Copenhagen).
Best First Year Player : Johan Larsen (Jutland).
Most Improved : David Verngren (Port Malmö).
Leading Goalkicker : Troels Ottesen (Farum) 35 goals.
Best Umpire : Aaran Higgins (Port Malmö).
President's Award : Ian Moore.
